Model United Nations Conference
RAMMUNC I is a model United Nations conference for high school students looking to learn more about global issues, practice public speaking and explore what VCU has to offer.
The conference is organized and led by VCU’s Model United Nations club, RAMMUN, and is sponsored by the College of Humanities and Sciences. It is held in person in the heart of downtown Richmond at VCU’s Monroe Park campus.
Students will spend two days debating topics ranging from the ethics of surveillance technology to the impacts of rising sea levels and climate change. Students will meet in committee sessions, create and share resolutions, race around VCU in a scavenger hunt, attend a movie and game night, and make friends from other Virginia high schools.
Each student will be placed in a committee that focuses on a specific set of topics, and assigned a person or nation to represent in that committee. The committees offered at RAMMUNC I are:
- General Assembly First Committee: Disarmament and International Security (DISEC)
- General Assembly Third Committee: Social Cultural and Humanitarian (SOCHUM)
- Specialized Agency: Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)
- Specialized Agency: United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC)
- Crisis Simulation: World War I
Join us for an unforgettable weekend of debate, teamwork and fun!
