Model United Nations Conference
RAMMUNC II is a model United Nations conference for high school students looking to learn more about global issues, practice public speaking and explore what VCU has to offer.
The conference is organized and led by VCU’s Model United Nations club, RAMMUN, and is sponsored by the College of Humanities and Sciences. It is held in person in the heart of downtown Richmond at VCU’s Monroe Park campus.
Students will spend two days debating topics ranging from the rights of indigenous persons, to how to regulate space for private or public consumption. Students will meet in committees in order to create and share resolutions, learn about and tour VCU, make friends from other Virginia high schools, and potentially earn awards for their hard work during committee sessions.
Committees
Each student will be placed in a committee that focuses on a specific set of topics, and assigned a person or nation to represent in that committee. The committees offered at RAMMUNC II are:
- General Assembly Third Committee: Social Cultural and Humanitarian Committee (SOCHUM) - SOCHUM Background Guide
- General Assembly Fourth Committee: Special Political and Decolonization Committee (SPECPOL) - SPECPOL Background Guide
- Specialized Agency: Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) - OPEC Background Guide
- Crisis Situation: The Hunger Games - Hunger Games Background Guide
Join us for an unforgettable weekend of debate, teamwork and fun!
