University Life in Wartime Ukraine flyer

Date: Wednesday, Oct 15, 2025

Start time: 10:00AM

End time: 11:30AM

Location: STEM 503

Come to the STEM building in room 503 on October 15, 2025 from 10:00-11:30AM for a panel discussion live from Ukraine, moderated by Dr. Judy Twigg of VCU's academic partners from the "Scholars Without Borders" program.

Enjoy light brunch items while learning about what's happening with Russia's war on Ukraine and within Ukrainian politics, society, and higher education, directly from the cities of Kharkiv, Rivne, Berdyansk, and Poltava. Hear Ukrainian professors talk about their work—which spans the politics of memory, Ukrainian child refugees, mental health at Ukrainian universities, and digital entrepreneurship in Ukraine—and about their experiences navigating displacement and other impacts of the war. There will also be plenty of time for you to ask questions!

Please register your intent to attend here so food for guests may be calculated accurately.

Want to learn even more about Ukrainian politics and the ongoing war? Consider taking the course "Ukrainian Politics and Society" in spring 2026, co-taught by Dr. Twigg and VCU's Ukrainian colleagues at the Kyiv School of Economics, Ukraine's top-ranked private university.
