On the Campaign Trail With Allie Reckendorf
Dr. Allie Reckendorf is currently in New Hampshire, visiting with the various presidential campaigns in preparation for a new intersession course, Political Campaigns and Communication, to be offered this December/January. The course will take students to NH for some real-world experience, observation, and analysis while the campaigns are in full swing. Dr. Reckendorf has visited so far with the Clinton, Sanders, Graham, Trump, and Paul teams in Manchester and Concord. Here are some pics from a number of candidate events she attended!
Lindsey Graham delivered his policy proposals at the Halligan Tavern in Derry, NH; the event was sponsored by the Greater Derry Londonderry Chamber of Commerce. As such, much of his pitch focused on the economy, however he also discussed the freshly struck Iran deal. I noted that although I don’t tend to agree with Graham on his foreign policy, it did feel as though he’s incredibly knowledgeable about military and world affairs .
Hillary Clinton held a grassroots “organizing event” at Beech Hill Farm Stand and Ice Cream Bar in Hopkinton, NH. The event drew was the most-attended that I witnessed during my time in NH; it probably drew a few hundred people, including a ton of families w/ kids. Prior to the event there was a lot of speculation about what flavor ice cream Clinton would get, but alas this information wasn’t broadcast.
Chris Christie held a “Tell It Like It Is” town hall meeting at Lab ‘N Lager Pub in Keene, NH. By the time I made the drive out to Keene the seating capacity had been filled.
